Jasper Coal....The MacKay
2nd generation American Colonial, of Scots -Irish decent and holding hereditary lands and title of “The MacKay”. Jasper Coal gained notoriety as a formidable skirmisher and scout in Robert Roger’s Rangers during the1st campaign against the French and Indians in the Hudson Valley of New Hampshire. Having taken a Huron Wife, he was later accused of conspiring to aid the enemies of England by Robert’s brother James Rogers and charged with treason by the Crown. Coal and was stripped of this title and lands by King George’s Court. His Indian wife was killed by the Rangers in the skirmish to capture him. He was to be sent to England for trial but escaped British Imprisonment, killing a British officer and 3 soldiers in the process. He commandeered a 6 gun schooner, The Lynx, from New York harbor along her privateer crew. With no fondness for the French or English Governments and a price on his head from both, he took to the life of Piracy.
